Dear Friend: Please
join the people of Kansas in nominating Joel Balam for U.S. Congress. He is an independent candidate
who cares deeply about his community and about what’s happening in America today. Joel is a graduate of Baker University and a long time resident of Overland Park. He has served in Kansas as educator, translator, and chaplain. When you say
“yes” to Joel, you will be supporting important and critical
issues:
1. DEFEND THE FAITH TO PRESERVE
AMERICAN MORAL VALUES AND TRADITIONS. We must defend the Faith if we are to preserve our moral
values and traditions. We must stop atheists and agnostic liberals from
continue eroding the moral foundation of America. Let’s not
forget we are “One Nation Under God.”
2. SUPPORT OUR TROOPS FOR THEY ARE RISKING THEIR LIVES TO PROTECT OUR LIBERTIES AND DEFEND OUR FREEDOM. We must stand firm in our support for our troops.
We cannot and must not allow political tendencies to divide our a nation on this issue. As long as America’s children are under orders and in the battlefield,
we must do everything to meet the needs of our troops.
3. HONOR OUR VETERANS FOR THEIR SERVICE AND SACRIFICE. We must remember our veterans for their service and
sacrifice and devotion to our country. We must give them our maximum support
to protect their services and benefits.
4. SUPPORT A PROPOSAL TO CONTROL AND REGULATE THE PRICE OF GASOLINE. We must not let Big Oil corporations
and the monopolistic refining industry continue to oppress American
consumers. Let’s fight back by supporting legislation that can bring under
control the ever-higher price of gasoline.
5. SUPPORT A PRACTICAL AND SENSIBLE IMMIGRATION
REFORM. We must support an
Immigration Reform that is good for the economy and consistent with American
values and traditions. Five past U.S. Presidents couldn’t have been wrong when they
enacted policies to welcome hard-working immigrants: President Roosevelt in 1934, President
Eisenhower in 1952, President Kennedy in 1963, President
Johnson in 1965, and President Reagan
in 1986. Let’s support a Practical and Sensible Immigration Reform and
policies that will effectively contribute to America’s economic growth.
6. SUPPORT HEALTH CARE REFORM. We must fight hard for a Comprehensive Health Care
Plan that is accessible and affordable to hard-working families, including
the working poor.
7. SUPPORT A FAIR TAX PROPOSAL. Let’s
support a Fair Tax Proposal that does not punish hardworking Americans. Let’s
work hard to support a fair tax plan that will effectively reduce taxes and
rewards hard-working families. Let’s work with a tax proposal that is fair
and simple – a plan that will dramatically reduce the waste of paper and
time.
8. PROTECT THE RIGHT OF THE UNBORN. It
is our moral duty to defend the helpless. It is our moral obligation to
protect the rights of the unborn. We must give our steadfast support to
pro-life efforts in Kansas and across America.
9. PROTECT THE ENVIROMENT. We must join
the fight to clean our environment and reduce global warming. We must support
measures to reduce adverse environmental effects on human existence.
10. SUPPORT THE FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER AND POVERTY. We must join the fight to reduce hunger and poverty
in our third district, our state, and across our nation. This is a critical
issue for over 10,000 Kansas
families who are now living below the poverty level. Let’s meet our moral
obligation to Kansas working poor.
