Dear Friends and Supporters,
I am delighted to announce the restart of my campaign for Congress. I am gearing up for the road and getting ready to fight for the many hard-working families who are struggling with the harsh economic recession. As you know, I have decided to enter the race because I care deeply about my community, about the daily struggles of hard-working Kansans, and how the economic downturn is greatly affecting their lives. A matter of serious concern to me is the fact that nearly 200,000 Kansans are now living below the poverty line.
I believe that the majority of my fellow Kansans are greatly disappointed by the actions of insensitive politicians in Washington who have been out of touch with the true hopes of hard-working Americans. So many of those politicians, in their attempt to make their jobs permanent, have aligned themselves with big corporate interests and have favored rich bankers and foreign investors by voting for massive bailouts funded by American taxpayers. They have put all their political and legislative efforts in rescuing the rich while ignoring the needs of the working poor. Let’s remind all of these insensitive and out-of-touch members of Congress that their primary duty is to look out for the interests of the American people, not the interest of rich corporations which in turn fund their re-election campaigns. Furthermore, they must be reminded that our democracy is a “government of the people, by the people, for the people".
The people of Kansas are losing faith in their government. They are extremely discouraged by the actions of left-wing politicians in Washington who have supported and voted for trade policies that have greatly reduced America’s industrial capacity. American workers are outraged when they see how Congress continues to allow the exporting of our manufacturing jobs, forcing our factories to close, and flooding our markets with goods made in China and elsewhere. Those politicians who voted for these trade policies have not only ignored the concerns of hard-working families, but also neglected the needs of the unemployed, the struggling manufacturers and small business owners, and their families who are now suffering the impact of the economic crisis. The people of Kansas are tired of politicians who put the interest of their party over the interest of the people. They are tired of being patronized, marginalized, and ignored by the two-party political system. The people of Kansas Third District don’t want more of the same. They are hungry for fairness and justice. They are hungry for change!
Our campaign effort will be a direct grassroots effort. No middleman, no political consultants, no expensive media, and no $500-dinner-plate at banquets that only the rich can attend. We know very well how money controls the political system, and how money puts people in Congress. But that fact will not discourage me. I know that the work on the campaign trail is going to be extremely hard, especially running against financially strong opponents. I promise you, I will work hard everyday. I will run a campaign worthy of your confidence. I believe that with your strong support and the help of Almighty God, I can prevail and win the victory for the people of Kansas in this upcoming election.
